Flush Mount
Flush fixtures utilize space efficiently because they align flat against wall. They are best for small and narrow spaces and won't make the space feel cramped.
Semi-Flush
Semi-flush fixtures include gooseneck and armed sconces. These fixtures are great for creating depth and perspective in larger open space.
Wall-Washers
Wall-washers are an exceptional indirect lighting option. These fixtures set a romantic atmosphere and won't produce glare when illuminated.
Down Lighting
Down lighting focuses on illuminating a targeted area. Create a warm, softly lit area where you need light the most. We have more down light fixtures coming soon!
Where Do Wall Sconces Best Fit On My Home?
Four areas wall sconces are typically used:
Patios & Decks

When styling your deck or patio, lighting options can change the entire atmosphere of the room. You may want to consider if the fixture will be at head level, eye level, or where people congregate. Height placement can make a difference in the style and size of the fixture you choose. Of course, how the fixture matches the overall theme of your home and other fixtures nearby is something to take into consideration.
For areas where the lighting will affect people's sight, we recommend indirect lighting or a down light fixture. This type of lighting can also creates a romantic atmosphere.
For small spaces, we recommend flush mount fixtures or a small indirect light fixture.

Garage Doors

When buying exterior lights for around your garage door, keep in mind how much light is needed. An important question to ask is, "should I match these fixtures to the ones that are around the front door, and does this theme go with the overall feel of the house?"
The modern wall sconces that go best around garage doors are the Industrial-Inspired Large Outdoor Wall Sconce, the California Wall Sconce, and the Industrial-Inspired Small Outdoor Wall Sconce.

Front Doors

When buying fixtures for the front door you may want to consider if the other exterior lighting will match, where people will be walking from, and how much outdoor space you want to illuminate.
People naturally walk towards light, so placing your wall sconce at an angle, where the fixture will light up the walking path, is favorable.
Eclectic style homes have their own beauties. With an eclectic style, mixing and matching styles can be a fun option to make your home your own. In order to maintain unity, choose one aspect that stays consistent within your fixtures. If you're aiming for a cohesive look, opting for a similar theme or choosing the same fixture in different sizes, are both viable and realistic options.
What you want to consider are the color palette, texture, or focal point. To properly utilize the space you have in the front entryway, remember to look at the height of the ceiling, the width between the door and windows or walls, and color of the space.
For dark, quaint spaces, small flush mount fixtures will help keep the space feeling open and not claustrophobic. For larger spaces, create a focal point on the front door. You may choose to accomplish this by having a fixture complement the door and add depth by adding a semi-flush fixture. If the space allows it, consider adding more than one fixture to the entryway. You will want people to seamlessly transition from the outdoor space to the indoor space. Test how the area feels with the door both open and closed.

The same principles apply, for tight dark spaces. In this case, flush mounted fixtures are an excellent choice. For wide areas, semi-flush and many indirect lights can bring a space to life.
